STOP THE WAR

STOP THE WAR

The nation needs to wake up to the reality of this toxic Tory government.
David Cameron's drive to a new imperialist war... A decision of hate and greed made by the cold blood of the big wigs up top. The reasons for this war are becoming more and more revealing, they want to sit there wig at the table,  to get involved, to kill.

WHERE was our choice?
OUR say?

You’re choosing whether to go to war,  not choosing what type of eggs to have in the morning Cameron. This war needs to stop, the same mistakes cannot be made  again, along with strapping Cameron to one of the rockets launched into Syria, I second that motion.
It is time to WAKE up people, time to act , will it take our own hometowns, the loss of our own friends before people stop bowing down to this government.

How can we stop this war? After attending The People’s Assembly “Stop the war” demonstration last Saturday in London, i received simple answers on what action WILL be taken to stop this war

I received simple answers from this…

1. It is down to the PEOPLE to act

2. THE NEWS is an issue; we face a pro-capitalist media, attacking us on the left and supporting toxic Tory rule, hence next to no coverage of the thousands of people protesting against David Cameron’s drive to a new imperialist war...around 5,000 people joined an emergency protest outside downing street last Saturday. Where was the coverage?  If people do not understand or see the true extent of the problem, nothing will happen; look beyond The Sun, BBC News and Daily Star, it would take you less time to sign a petition that could change the world than voting for your favorite dancing dog on Britain's Got Talent.
Underlying this issue is a statement I am sure most of us can agree on
-         WAR has never been and never will be the answer.

Therefore…  YOU MATTER

One thing I noticed about the Paris attacks aftermath was the PEOPLE’S response... the amazing unity felt between us all.
Waking us up to a world that is falling apart in all corners, it is only now as the war creeps closer to us, we begin to open our eyes. The towers and towns we all find so familiar, urging us to unite together as human beings.
You changed you profile picture on Facebook for a reason, because you CARE…
You don’t have to care about POLITICS,
It’s about having a HEART, about caring for each and every one of us, whether Muslim, Syrian,  English, we are all human.
If people can come together we can save the world from drowning in hate, greed, murder, and create peace.

SAVE OUR NHS

SAVING OUR NHS – Junior doctors are making a stand against the government as they propose a contract that is UNFAIR and UNSAFE.  Junior doctors voted overwhelmingly with a turnout of 76.2% with 98% in favor of striking for the first time in 40 years, they are taking on the government and it is our duty to support them , this is everyone's fight.

  “Not safe not fair” 11th November Manchester cathedral

“The first steps have been taken towards the PRIVATIZATION of our beloved NHS”- Eye opening words given by Julie Hesmondhalgh, yet ultimately the reality of the future facing the NHS.

Manchester cathedral, the atmosphere at the demonstration was one of unity, between every age, gender, shape, colour, and profession; a feeling of solidarity with every individual under that roof. A sense of strength, as the echoing claps and cheers flood out into the streets of Manchester, a message to the Tories….

“THE NHS WILL LAST AS LONG AS THERE ARE FOLKS LEFT WITH THE FAITH TO FIGHT FOR IT.”

“Not safe not fair”- What’s it all about?

A new junior doctor contract has been proposed and my, what a shambles. A number of exciting speakers at the demonstration taught us basically what is happening

  1. Redefining hours, 7AM-10PM MON-SAT, no social hours, MORE stressful hours, they are brewing a recipe for disaster, “SHOW ME THE MP THAT DOES THESE HOURS” Junior doctors demand answers to these Inhumane propositions.
  2. Scrapping safeguarding, therefore there is no protection for us... the underlying fact is TIRED nurses and doctors make mistakes, we are all human! Without safeguarding this spirals all safety down the plughole.
  3. The contract looks like its been put together by an accounts manager, a bin man, a builder and a couple of solicitors, or perhaps put together in 15 minutes by a bunch of A-level fashion students who haven’t done their coursework. This is not on; this is people we are dealing with, not bloody cross-stitch.

The Changes;

Tutor of junior doctors in Inner Manchester;
“I am fighting for my patients, for rich, for poor, for man, woman,  or child….
These changes are AUSTERITY and leading towards PRIVATIZATION of the NHS.
Mr Hunt, my patients will be afraid to ask for help, as propaganda will tell them they will die. Do not tell my patients what they need, listen to what they want.”

Powerful words from a powerful woman.

STRIKE ACITION; 98% in favour

Subject to the ballot which closed on the 18th of November junior doctors in England will strike on the following three dates;

·                                 Emergency care only — from 8am, Tuesday 1 December to 8am Wednesday 2 December
·                                 Full withdrawal of junior doctors' labour — from 8am to 5pm, Tuesday 8 December
·                                 Full withdrawal of junior doctors' labour — from 8am to 5pm, Wednesday 16 December.

What do the strikes mean for you?

 Industrial action is NOT taken lightly, in the long term patient safety is at the heart of this battle, if a fairer contract is agreed this will ensure a positive future for us all.
Question yourself- what would we do without doctors?... the strikes if anything make you REALIZE how much we rely on doctors, and the pure fact we are nothing without them, we need them , please support them.

But don’t worry, patient safety will not be jeopardized, only junior doctors are striking, therefore other doctor colleagues will ensure patient safety.

SUPPORT-
The peoples assembly supports this stand against a government which is “damaging communities and punishing the poor”, strike action is sending a powerful message to the government as WE make a stand,  WE being anyone that believes in the NHS...please support them

TUC Mass Lobby Monday 2nd November 2015

TUC mass lobby. Monday 2nd November 2015.

An important step in building the fight against the biggest attack on trade unions for centuries, taking away a BASIC human liberty, the freedom of speech, the freedom to strike and the freedom to express concerns in working environments.

My day; BILL CASH

This is my introduction into finding a voice which FIGHTS against a government which I thought was otherwise, well, hopeless. I wasn’t really sure what I was doing, what I was looking for, but , two emails later I found myself on a coach on the way to London to stand against the big dogs in there natural habitat; the Houses of Parliament, a daunting task at the lightest of times. The structure of the day- intense, perhaps designed to weary fighters of, silence us…
-long queues
-MP’s not turning up
-Airport style security

But despite the obstacles, we carry and fight for the most powerful weapon which cannot be silenced, the freedom of speech… ultimately what we are fighting for.

MY MP; Mr Bill Cash, representing Stone constituency for 18 years; nearly my entire lifetime. Caught up in the expenses scandal he claimed £15,000 to pay for his daughters London flat, time’s move forward but Bill remains backwards,  the epitome of everything wrong in the system some would say.

I have encountered Mr Cash on two previous occasions;

  1. Middle school, aged 13, Mr Cash came to cloud our minds, all I recall is thinking what an arse, we care about whats on hot dinners not roadworks and statistics... Clearly setting the example and inspiring young minds to get involved with politics,
  2. My previous job working in a kitchen. I struggled with the bin bags across the car park, Mr Cash was on his way up to a conference meeting above the kitchen, as I struggled I smiled at Mr Cash out of respect, only to return a sneering look as he jolly bobbed of to his pleasant meeting. I wasn’t asking him to scrape dog muck of the floor, just common courtesy to the people you work with. And yes, although I am here in my tracksuit bottoms, smelly hair and salsa juice dripping of my trainers, you work with me. I did feel an urge to turn around and tell him how I earn my money honestly, but thought better of it, I knew we’d meet again.

This lit a flame in my mind, a fight, against the exact values exemplified by a Tory government.

Bill Cash

  1. My third (and certainly not final) encounter is found here, in his holy grail, his pitch, his turf, the House of Commons.
As I filled out my green card to meet Mr Cash to raise my concerns in regards to the trade union bill, as if by polar force bringing us together, Bill walked past me in the corridor.

A summary of the “conversation” to follow is my MP mocking  exactly what I was fighting for, my freedom of speech. I was talked over with a flurry of statistics, misleading my arguments, even referring to how long he has been in the constituency; almost belittling a younger person. I felt intimidated, and even threatened by his attitude…
 His inability to listen to younger, working class people was epitomized by him answering his mobile phone in my face,  then happy to seal our “conversation” with a "jolly good" handshake. No Mr Cash, I will not accept being flicked aside with a handshake.
My concerns for future generations were given, his entire attitude in response exemplifying the very issue of a Tory government.

All I received from this conversation was how long he has been in the constituency and how everyone "likes him…"

The conversation was rounded with Bill telling me my home address...
I found this rather laughable as he tried to put his self back on top, perhaps threatened by a younger person routing for change. Think again Mr Cash, this has started the fire, the battle will be strong.
The people will be heard.

Overlook of the day;

.Despite my negative encounter, there is a lot of positivity to shed on this day.

One key difference I noticed was the difference between the Labour and Conservative MP’s. The Labour MP’s first and foremost turned up, took their time to listen to the people, I saw them taking photos , shaking hands with honesty and a smile. A young lad I spoke to after told me at the age of 10 he was inspired by the way his Labour MP acted, inspiring young minds as the young boy would now "love to stand for youth parliament."  In comparison, my Conservative MP almost mocked my youth.  Many Conservative MP’s didn’t even put the effort into to talk to the people, let alone listen to them. I beg to question whether I would have even talked to Mr Cash if he hadn’t walked past me in the corridor.

 “ he will be here in five minutes” “ twenty minutes” “ I’m afraid he’s not coming”….

Overhearing the effort and time taken to commute i was angered that efforts were being wasted.  After I made my first steps as a young activist, I felt an urge to investigate how people felt towards being "stood up".

How do you feel considering your efforts to travel today , do you feel listened to today?

The first emotion is “slightly annoyed”, annoyed after the queues, the security, the hot rooms. But after doing this for 40 years; you “get used to it”. 30 years ago, it was far more simple, one room, everyone present, a simple system where people were heard without commotion…

BUT- he added, if I was here to see a Labour MP, he would have been here
-and there’s the difference.

-As a younger person I gained an insight into just how tough the fight is, but despite the knock backs the fight will never leave you.  But I must question WHY MUST we “get used" to being backhanded by the people that are supposed to be working with us, listening to US, not working against us…
